Clothing

Carefully review the information sent to you from the Church with your mission call.  The Washington D.C. metroplex is populated with high-ranking government, military, and business professionals.  We follow the missionary dress standards to look our best at all times.  The following information provides additional detail that will help as you prepare to serve.

Clothing

Choose your clothing according to the Dress and Grooming Guidelines for missionaries on the Church's website. Please review each section of the Church's website carefully: Clothing, FAQs, General Guidelines, and Personal Grooming.  A few items to note:

Elders: No white-soled shoes (except for exercise shoes), crazy socks, lapel pins, etc.

Sisters: No open-toed sandals/shoes, oversized or colored boots, most Doc martens (Conservative Mary Jane Doc Martins are ok), vans, leggings, tight or cropped dress pants, etc.

“As an ambassador of the Lord, you are to wear professional, conservative clothing that is consistent with your sacred calling and that will clearly identify you as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Appropriate dress and grooming will help you earn respect and trust. Your appearance is often the first message others receive, and it should support what you say. Never allow your appearance or your behavior to draw attention away from your message or your calling.” (General Guidelines, Missionary Clothing)
